Excursions that you shouldn’t miss

Morella: one of the jewels of Castellón. Beautiful medieval walled town. You can walk through its historic center, see the cave paintings and eat at the Mesón del Pastor, on calle San Julián, 1; typical cuisine such as olla Morellana or some delicious homemade croquettes. And if you want something more sophisticated, the best option is in Daluan, Callejón Cárcel 4.

Peñíscola: essential visit to the Castle of Papa Luna, former Papal headquarters. The old town of Peñíscola, next to the castle, also has its walking. The rest are hotels and beaches. You can drive along the coast between Peñíscola and Alcocebre (to the south) and cross the Natural Park of the Sierra de Irta. The restaurant Forn de Tonico is recommended, carretera de las Fuentes s/n; they make one of the best baked rice dishes in the province.
